Simon Hawkes
Royal Hobart Golf Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Hawkes as our new Director of Golf, commencing Tuesday, 9 December 2025, after he competes in this year’s Australian Open.
The recruitment process attracted a strong field of applicants from across Australia and overseas, with numerous applications received. After initial screening and phone interviews, a panel interview was conducted with shortlisted candidates. Simon’s presentation, understanding of the Club’s direction, and focus on policy, procedure, and service consistency clearly aligned with our vision for the future of golf operations at Royal Hobart.
Simon brings a wealth of experience to the position, having worked with leading clubs including Barwon Heads, Ryde Parramatta, Eastwood, and more recently, 7 Mile Beach. He has also been a familiar face at Royal Hobart since he was a junior here and most recently, providing lessons and assisting in the Golf Shop.
Simon’s appointment represents an exciting step forward in enhancing our golf experience for members and guests alike.
