Men’s Pennant results – weekend teams

The weekend just past saw all 3 teams playing at home. It was extremely successful for them with some great performances from our players.

Division 1 (At home to Tasmania GC)
The 2 undefeated teams met at RHGC without many of Royal’s regular players. Tasmania GC, fielding a number of state players including Andrew Phillips (this year’s form player and Tasmania Club Champion) took on a Royal team that included former Division 1 stalwart (Brad Miller) playing at #1, 4 current Division 2 players and pennant newcomer (James Sherman). Only Craig Pridmore was a regular in last year’s Division 1 Pennant winning team. Despite this, the team rallied with Brad Miller’s 1 up win halving the match at 3.5 games each. Given the strength of the TGC team, this was a great result.

Division 2 (at home to Tasmania GC)
The division 2 team had a great win over TGC’s previously undefeated team. Despite losing 4 players to Division 1, the team recorded a resounding 6/1 win highlighted by 5/3 wins by (stand in captain) Kyle Spruce and Steve Carmichael. Hallie Meaburn continued to shine following promotion to Division 2 with a fighting 2 up win playing at #4. This win takes our division 2 team to the top of the table after 3 rounds.

Division 3 (at home to North West Bay)
The division 3 team had a comprehensive 5/2 win over NWB’s top team.  Captain Paul Collins and his team were crucial in this weekend’s great overall performance as they gave up 4 players to the division 2 team (which allowed Division 1 to field a competitive team).Paul called on several stand-in players (Ricky Langford, Alex Parker, Paul Creighton) all of which had wins. A gutsy performance by club legend (Patrick Baldwin) came up short but an overall team effort sees Div 3 at the top of the standings after 3 rounds.
