“On Course”

Auto Score Card: A reminder to all players that the new score card process will come into effect from next Tuesday 7th September when players will process their own score cards through a card reader and screen which will be located on the bench top adjacent to the existing score card lodgement box.

This process will allow players to fix any recording errors prior to lodging their card in a designated card slot in the bench top. Incomplete cards will be placed in another designated card slot for Administration staff to process accordingly.

Over the initial few weeks staff will be available to assist members with this changed process.

2. Red Tees:

Congratulations to Judy Machin on winning the Hornibrook Tray with a nett 66 last Thursday. The Country Day Cup was well attended with 28 players from Country Clubs playing. Sharon James-Wood from Colebrook was the winner with a 72 nett.
Tuesday 5
th is a Stroke, Club Medal and Putts event. Please note that as from this month there will only be one ball given for the least putts, allowing for more “balls down the line” so that more good scores can be acknowledged.
North v South: Once again our Club is well represented in this event, being held this weekend at Kingston Beach Golf Club. Good luck to Anne Medlycott, Zibeth Daubenton, Sue Frith, Wendy Bond, Karen Bannister and Marg Dix.

Thank you to all who donated for our Cancer Fund raising day, your generosity raised $200.35 which will be handed on to the Menzies Centre.

3. Test your knowledge of Golf – Rules of Golf:

Answer to last week's question: A player’s ball went into a bunker. The player accidentally kicked a pine cone and it rolled into the bunker. They picked up the pine cone which was not interfering with their stance or the area of their intended swing, did they incur a penalty?

Answer: Yes. A pine cone is a loose impediment, and may not be removed when both the impediment and the ball lie in a hazard (Rule 13-4c). By removing the pine cone, the player incurs a two stroke penalty in stroke play and loss of hole in match play.

This week's question: Prior to putting, a player touched the inside of the hole. Should he be considered to have touched the line of the putt in breach of Rule 16-1a?
